-
Arteriovenous malformation (AVM)
AVM is a tangle of blood vessels in the brain. Neurosurgeons may use stereotactic radiosurgery. This type of procedure directs targeted radiation beams at the AVM to cause scarring and reduce the risk of an aneurysm.
-
Brain and spinal tumor

Brain aneurysm
A brain aneurysm is a ballooning of a blood vessel in the brain. A rupture can cause a brain bleed (intracranial hemorrhage). Neurosurgeons prevent bleeding by clipping the blood vessel to prevent a rupture and possible stroke. Our highly skilled nurse navigator helps you and your family understand the effects of having a brain aneurysm and offer support throughout your treatment and recovery.
-
Carotid artery disease
Carotid artery disease occurs when there is a blockage of blood flow to the brain. This may lead to an increased risk of stroke. Similar to coronary artery disease, the team opens a clogged carotid artery using a procedure called carotid endarterectomy and removes the plaque build-up. Your neurosurgeons then inserts a small balloon with a small metal tube (stent) to open the artery. Ultrasound tests are used to evaluate plaque build-up and blood flow.
-
Cerebral arterial dissection
A cerebral arterial dissection, also known as an intramural hematoma, is a common cause of stroke in young adults. It can be discovered as an incidental finding on asymptomatic patients. Our team manages this condition with treatments ranging from medication, repeated imaging to endovascular surgery.
-
Cerebral cavernous malformation (CCM)
A CCM is a benign (non-cancerous) lesion of clustered blood vessels. Your neurosurgeon has the expertise to evaluate and treat your CCM. Our team is nationally recognized for providing high quality interdisciplinary care for both sporadic and familial cerebral cavernous malformations by Alliance to Cure Cavernous Malformation.
-
Complex spine disorders
Our neurosurgeons have advanced training and expertise to treat conditions that affect the cervical spine (the part of the spine that is closest to your brain). Herniated disc, spinal stenosis, and traumatic spine injuries are common cervical spine disorders. We also diagnose and treat other spinal conditions.
-
Parkinson's disease
Parkinson’s disease is a movement disorder of the central nervous system. It’s a progressive condition that can get worse over time. Our surgical team uses deep brain stimulation to manage tremors and other neuromuscular symptoms. Your neurologist will determine if you are a candidate for deep brain stimulation (DBS).
-
Pituitary tumors
Our neurosurgeons have the expertise to treat benign pituitary tumors using endonasal endoscopic surgery. We provide a minimally-invasive approach that can remove the tumors through the nose and sinuses, without affecting the face and skull. We work with head and neck surgeons to provide the minimally invasive approach.
