With the onset of August it’s time to start thinking more about our fall wardrobe. And for most of us gals that includes the daunting search for the perfect jeans. That’s why I’m pleased to introduce to you a brand that I’ve worn before, but have never featured here on Dressed for My Day. Christopher & Banks has recently introduced three distinct fits of denim and they invited me to try them all…in the search for my perfect jeans!
Straight Fit
When it comes to fitting room nightmares, we gals seem to struggle most often with finding the perfect fit in swim suits, bras and jeans. So I was actually a little hesitant when Christopher & Banks asked if I’d be willing to try their three fits of jeans in search of my perfect jeans. But it turns out I had nothing to fear at all. In fact, I’m thrilled to report that all three of their distinct fits of denim offer great styling, quality fabric blends, trending shades and true to fit sizing.
You can check out Christopher & Banks’ jean fit guide for more information about the three categories of jeans they offer. But I’ll walk you through the details here, too.
First up, I tried the Everyday Straight Jean in dark stonewash. I ordered my usual size 6. The straight jeans are relaxed in the waist and slender through the hips and thighs. These straight jeans are available in petite, petite plus size, tall, tall plus size, average (height) and average plus size. Wow! Talk about a full range of sizes!
To style these straight jeans, I opted for a long lightweight stripe open cardigan over a simple boatneck knit tank. All of these pieces fit me true to size. And I pulled this simple, casual look together with a beautiful and versatile multi strand seed bead cord necklace.
These straight jeans are probably best for the woman who is less of an hour glass shape than I am. They were a little roomy in the waist on me. But if you have less definition in the waistline and prefer a jean that does not hug your ankles, but skims your legs, these could be your perfect jeans.
Shaped Fit
Next I tried the Signature Slimming 5 Pocket Tapered Leg Jean. These jeans are designed for the curvier silhouette and feature a Signature Slimming panel that smooths the tummy. They fit just below the bend in your waist and have a more elasticized feel throughout to accommodate all your curves.
I think these jeans look very flattering from the rear, too. The pocket size and placement is good and the fabric is dense enough so the jeans don’t expose panty lines.
As indicated in the name of these jeans, they have a tapered leg, slimming at the ankle. But they’re still more forgiving and skimming than your average skinny jean. So you get the pleasing silhouette of a skinny jean without the binding fit those jeans can sometimes have.
Because these jeans do hug the curves, I kept the top of my outfit full and flowing. I wore a sleeveless chambray top with a full but flattering peony pink Anorak jacket.
You can cinch the jacket at the waist for a figure flattering silhouette.
If you, like me, have a more hourglass shape, these Signature Slimming 5 Pocket Tapered Leg jeans may be your perfect jeans. But you’ll find that Christopher & Banks carries a full line of Signature Slimming jeans and pants, some with straight legs, some with trouser legs, as well as shorts and capri lengths.
Relaxed Fit
While Christopher & Banks also offers a full selection of relaxed fit jeans, I chose to try the Everyday Barely Boot Jean in this particular fit.
I’ve been looking for a pair of boot cut jeans for some time now. I prefer to wear at least a 2″ heel with boot jeans. Of course, you can also wear flats with them, but I think heels create the longest, most flattering silhouette. Most brands are too short for me, since I’m 5’8″. But Christopher & Banks carries long and petite lengths in most of their jeans and pants, so I was hopeful.
Sure enough, I ordered the long length of the boot jeans and they were too long. Ha! For once I was able to have them hemmed to my specifications. I like to wear the hem of my boot cut jeans 1/2″-1″ from the ground.
For me, these barely boot jeans in the relaxed fit are a little roomy. I might could go down a size. The relaxed fit jeans are relaxed through the hips and thighs. So if you tend to be broader in those areas, the relaxed fit jeans may be your perfect jeans.
I styled my Everyday Barely Boot Jeans with this darling embroidered palm tree t-shirt topped with an olive green cardigan.
Finding Your Perfect Jeans
In the end, all three fits worked fine on me. I think you’ll find that the denim has great elasticity and thickness, and the cuts are flattering. But I’d say the Signature Slimming 5 Pocket Tapered Leg jeans are my perfect jeans. These hug my curves without pinching or binding, and they feel great.

Among Christians we often talk about “glorifying God,” but I wonder if most of us really know what that means. I used to think the only way to glorify God was to sing to or about Him. But that’s just not accurate.
To glorify God simply means to present a correct picture or estimation of God to those around us. We do that by demonstrating, through everyday circ*mstances, God’s character. So when we forgive those who’ve offend us, we demonstrate that God is gracious and merciful. That’s glorifying God. And when we resist snapping at people and losing our cool, we demonstrate that God is patient and kind. That’s glorifying God.
