Chose which server you want to play at and which Rover to choose as your player character. ▶︎Can You Change Genders?

Follow the yellow marker until you reach a cliff wall. Stand beside the wall and move forward to climb it.
Press the Jump button to jump over the small ledge and climb the second wall. Use the Wall Dash maneuver to climb faster.

Defeat the enemies that spawn in the area using a combination of Basic Attacks and Resonance Skill. After defeating them, head up the stairs and follow the yellow marker until a cutscene plays.

Activate the Resonance Liberation skill in order to defeat the two Tacet Discords that spawn. Use a combination of all the skills you have learned thus far in order to defeat the Chasm Guardian. After this, proceed up the stairs.

Follow the yellow marker until you reach a small tower with the red beam emanating from it. Activate it to unlock it as a fast travel point and obtain Astrites and Union Experience.
After activating the beacon, follow the yellow marker until you reach a cliffside overlooking an area.

Activate the glider as you jump down from the cliffside and a cutscene should play.

Use your combat skills to defeat the boss. You can perform a perfect dodge by evading as soon as the white light shines when the boss is about to attack. Dodging the attack will grant you bonus attacks on the enemy and a small window of immunity to damage.

Follow the yellow marker until the objective changes to "Defeat Stonewall Bracer". Defeat the enemy and a cutscene will play after.

Stand next to the defeated enemy and press the Absorb button. This adds Stonewall Bracer to the Echo Collection. ▶︎How to Absorb Echoes

Select the icon on the top-right corner to view the Attribute Details menu. From there click the icon with the red exclamation mark on the left side to view the Echo menu.
Click the circle with the plus icon on the right side. Select the Stonewall Bracer Echo and click the Equip button.

You can activate the Resonance Beacon as you make your way to Jinzhou to get Astrites and Union Experience and complete the optional objective.
Follow the yellow marker as it leads you to a cliffside overlooking Jinzhou to get the Sonance Casket. Enter the city to complete the main quest.

Follow the yellow marker until you reach the Nexus Beacon. Make sure to activate the resonance beacon inside the city to unlock the location as a fast travel point.
Once you reach the Nexus Beacon, activate it to uncover a portion of the map.

Follow the yellow marker until you reach the elevator and interact with it to reach the upper floor of the City Hall. Talk to Yangyang at the opposite side of the elevator.

Follow the yellow marker towards the door to enter the City Hall's courtyard. Follow the receptionist and take a seat at the meeting hall.

Exit the City Hall and talk to Yangyang for a cutscene to play.

Reach the yellow marker overlooking the scenery to unlock the Grapple function under Utilities. ▶︎How to Use the Grappling Hook

Press the Grapple button while looking at the floating icon to use it. Doing so propels you forward towards the next grapple point to reach the Huaxu Academy.
Enter the door to the Academy and talk to Mortefi.

Defeat waves of enemies in Baizhi's simulation, and attempt to leave in order to trigger a cutscene.

After talking to Baizhi, the game will introduce the Convene (Gacha) system. Use one Radiant Tide to get Baizhi as a fixed pull.
Open the Team menu and replace Chixia with Baizhi in the team formation. ▶︎All Current and Upcoming Convene Banners

Follow the yellow marker and talk to Mortefi. Enter the studio on the right side and find the accessory box on the workbench by the right side of the entrance.
Go back to Mortefi and hand over the accessory box. You will receive a Sundial at the end of the cutscene.

Go to the nearby computer and interact with it. Follow the yellow marker towards the database room and inspect the two computers to get the archives.
After inspecting the two computers, head to the center of the room and talk to Yangyang. Afterwards, leave the Academy to complete the main quest.

The main quest starts with a tutorial showing you how to pass the time. Open the main menu and select the Set Time Panel button on the bottom part of the screen.
The tutorial automatically sets the correct time to 07:00 Tomorrow so click the Confirm button to pass the time. ▶︎How to Pass Time

Follow the yellow marker and find the outdoor kitchen. This initiates a cutscene with Chixia and unlocks the Event function. ▶︎List of Events and Schedule

Head towards the city gate and complete the Ascension tutorial that pops up. Level up Yangyang to complete the tutorial. You can complete the optional objective approaching Yhan on the left side of the area near the soldiers.
Head to the City Gate part of Jinzhou to activate a cutscene.

Follow the yellow marker to reach the Rearguards Base. Make sure to activate the beacon on the right as you make your way to the camp.
Once the quest objective changes to "Ask the Soldiers about Zhiyuan" talk to the soldier on the left side of the base to initiate a cutscene.

Press the Utility button or hold the Tab key on the PC version and select the Sensor from the utility wheel. Activate the Sensor and follow the blue hologram patroller that leads to a tall rock outside of the camp.
After the cutscene is over, defeat the 3 enemies.

Interact with the Detection Beacon to open the decryption minigame. Connect the nodes that have the same color to complete the minigame.

Follow the yellow marker to reach the other Detection Beacon surrounded by thorns.
Press the Utility button or hold the Tab key on the PC version and select the Levitator from the utility wheel. Pick up the Explosive Charge nearby and toss it towards the thorns to clear them away.
You can also attack the Explosive Charge but this may damage your character. Interact with the Detection Beacon and complete the decryption minigame to repair it.

Follow the yellow marker until you reach the camp to activate a cutscene. Find the two wounded soldiers at the camp and interact with them to complete the objective.

Use the elevator switch at the center of the camp to reach the upper level. Make sure to activate the Resonance Nexus at the upper level to uncover a portion of the map.
Follow the yellow marker that leads to the quartermaster and talk to him.
After talking to the quartermaster, follow the yellow marker and talk to Jianxin. Talk to Yangyang afterward.

The next sequence has you play as Jiyan alone to battle waves of enemies and the Impermanence Heron - Birth and Death boss.
Use Jiyan's Resonance Liberation to immobilize the boss and deal massive damage to the boss to complete the main quest.
Chapter 1 Act 2 Echoing Marche Guide

Follow the yellow marker and approach the Tacet Field. Defeat the waves of enemies in less than 5 minutes to complete the objective.

Check all the points of interest marked by Yangyang after purging the Tacet Field.

Follow the yellow marker and interact with the glowing beacon beside the floating TD.
Follow the TD and interact with the clue on the floor. Do this two more times to get the clues needed to tell Scar your theories.
Note: You can talk and choose to attack Scar to skip the clue gathering objective. ▶︎What Happens If You Attack Scar?

After gathering the three clues, talk to Scar in the middle of the village. Scar will then ask you questions related to the clues you have gathered.
Do note that the choices you choose do not matter as the story will still move forward and lead you to the Chaotic Juncture: Spark dungeon at the end of the interaction. ▶︎All Scar Question and Answers

Use the Grapple function to navigate around the Chaotic Juncture and reach the boss arena. Defeat Scar to proceed to the next objectives. ▶︎Scar Boss Fight and Location
Go to Jinzhou and follow the yellow marker to reach Chixia's location. Approach her to trigger a cutscene.

In the next sequence, you need to choose the correct dialogue options to solve the compass puzzle.
The correct dialogue option for the first puzzle is The Shichen of Wei. This is the symbol on the larger disk that represents time.
For the second dialogue option, choose Vermillion Bird of the South as it is the symbol on the smaller disk that represents direction.

Head to Jinzhou's city hall and use the elevator to reach the upper area. Follow the yellow marker to enter the city hall.

To find the location of the Grand Library, interact with the vase on the top left corner from your starting point. Interact with the vase to open a secret door leading to the Grand Library.

Interact with the Grand Library's entrance and select Single Challenge. It is recommended to level up your characters and weapons to Level 40 as you will face two back-to-back bosses at the end of this dungeon. ▶︎Character Leveling Guide

Defeat a Level 40 Scar in a boss fight. He has same attack patterns from the previous boss fight during the Ominous Star main quest.
Once Scar's health reaches zero, he will transform into Scar: Aberrant Nightmare as the last phase of the boss fight.
Stick close to Scar's legs when attacking as he can perform a multi-hit grab attack if you battle him from a distance. Defeating the boss triggers a cutscene which completes this main quest.

As soon as you enter the dungeon, interact with the Symphodai in the middle to activate the dungeon's puzzle.

Follow the yellow marker to find the Sonodisk: Yu behind the Symphodai. Pick it up and place it on the Symphodai.

After playing the Sonodisk: Yu on the Symphodai, interact with the Loong Drum on the right side. This causes a platform to surface from the water.

Jump on the platform and attack the bell in the middle until a blue transluscent walkway forms leading to the newly opened door facing north.

Enter the room and defeat the enemies inside. Interact with the note on the floor to gather clues for the next Sonodisk.

Follow the yellow marker leading to the next room to find the Sonodisk: Shang on the other end.
Pick up the Sonodisk and head back to the Symphodai. Connect the Sonodisk to the Symphodai to lower the water level.

Pick the Drum on the east side and interact with it. This causes a platform to emerge from the water. A blue transluscent walkway will appear from the platform allowing you to reach the bell in the middle of the platform.

Strike the bell in the middle of the platform to rotate blue transluscent walkway on the east side.

Enter the newly opened door and take the elevator inside.

Follow the yellow marker to find the Sonodisk at the end of the room. Defeat the enemies that spawn before picking up the Sonodisk.

After defeating the enemies, pick up the Sonodisk: Jue and head back to the Symphodai. Connect the Sonodisk to the Symphodai.
This causes a new platform to appear, allowing you to connect it to a eastmost platform from the Symphodai.

Jump on the eastmost platform from the Symphodai and strike its bell until the blue transluscent walkway connects to the platform that appeared.

Once you strike the bell to the correct orientation, the quest objective will change to "Investigate the Room".
Follow the yellow marker leading to a room with that contains an empty elevator shaft in the middle. Drop down into the elevator shaft to find the Sonodisk: Zhi.

Pick up the Sonodisk: Zhi and open the blue door. Interact with the drum on the right side for it to form a blue transluscent walkway leading to the Symphodia.
Connect the Sonodisk: Zhi to the Symphodia to lower the water level even further, revealing a lower platform.

Drop down on the lower platform to find the last Sonodisk in the middle of the area. Defeat the enemies that spawn.

After defeating the enemies, pick up the Sonodisk: Gong in the middle of the area. Find the drum and activate it to open the door that contains an elevator that takes you back to the Symphodai.
Take the elevator and connect the Sonodisk: Gong to the Symphodai to open the door to the Grand Library.

Head north towards the golden transluscent walkway leading to the database of the Grand LIbrary. Open the door and head to the middle that leads to a giant golden column.

Head to the upper level of Jinzhou's city hall and find Yangyang and Chixia on the right side of the area. Find Linsu nearby and talk to her.

Head to the waterfall behind the square and go through it to find a shortcut to the back of the mountain.

As you reach the location of the yellow quest marker, several flowers will appear on the ground. Follow the trail of flowers leading to the top of the mountainside and to a field of flowers.
After talking to Verina, find Yangyang near the dirt road and talk to her.

Follow the yellow marker until you reach an area with two Fractsidus members. Defeat them to progress the quest objective.

Follow the yellow marker until a short cutscene plays zooming out to show the mountainside.
From there, a timer will appear and you will need to jump on the mushrooms and use the Grapple to make your way to the top of the mountainside.

Head back to Jinzhou and talk to Yangyang.

In the next sequence, you need to find and interact with 3 mist figures around Jinzhou to find Aalto's location. Each mist figure can be found surrounded by groups of people.
Find all three mist figures to progress the next objective.

Head to the area south of Plateau Ruins and talk to Aalto and Encore.
You can also fast travel to the Huanglong-Whining Aix's Mire-Fallen Grave Resonance Beacon if you have activated it to quickly find them.

Follow the marker as you make your way to the Court of Savantae Facility. A cutscene will play as you reach its location.

Press the Switch and Rotate buttons on the lower-right corner to spin each layer of the disk so that the blue pathways connect and form an inverted L-shape to unlock the door to the Court of Savantae Facility.

Enter the newly opened room and interact with the two holograms.

After interacting with the two holograms, the quest objective will switch back to "Find a way to turn on electricity".
Inside the room, pick up the second green battery pack in the middle and bring it outside towards the next room with two green colored switches. Place the battery pack on one of the green switches.

Go back to where Encore is standing and pick up the first green battery pack from the leftmost green switch and bring it towards the room with two green colored switches.
Place the battery pack on the other green colored switch to open the red barrier.

Head inside the room and pick up the third green battery pack beside the hologram of the treasure chest. Place the battery pack on the Transducer in the middle of the room to change its color from green to red.

Pick up the red battery pack and bring it towards the next room that has a green switch and a red switch. Place the red battery pack on the red switch and a green battery pack on the green switch to open the red barrier.

Enter the room and defeat all the Tacet Discords that spawn.

Follow the yellow marker towards the spinning mechanism puzzle in the middle of the room. Spin each layer of the disk so that the blue pathways connect and form an inverted L-shape to activate the device.

Head back to the entrance of the facility and find the circular device. Interact with it to head down the facility's basem*nt.

At the bottom of the basem*nt is a boss arena where you need to defeat the Mech Abomination. Encore joins your team as a trial resonator for this sequence.

After defeating the Mech Abomination, exit the facility to find Aalto and Encore outside. A cutscene will play once you get near the two.

After the cutscene ends, a notice pop-up window will appear indicating that proceeding with the next quest objective leads to a temporary point of no return.
If you wish to proceed and complete this main quest, talk to Aalto to activate another cutscene. This leads you immediately to the start of the next main quest, Grand Warstorm.

Once you gain control of Jiyan, follow the yellow marker to exit the base for a cutscene to play.
Defeat the enemies that appear after the cutscene. A long cutscene will play after and you will gain control of a Level 50 Rover (Spectro) with preset weapon and Echoes.

As Rover, follow the yellow marker and climb the ladder or use the Grapple to reach Taoqi.

In the next sequence, you will have Chixia, Yangyang, and Lingyang all at Level 50 with preset weapon and Echoes.
Defeat the groups of enemies in the area. Follow the yellow marker up the ramp to help the soldiers defeat another group of Tacet Discords.

As Jiyan, defeat the groups of Tacet Discords until a cutscene plays and you switch to Yangyang.

Follow the yellow marker leading to a wounded soldier. Interact with him for a cutscene to play.

Use Jiyan as your main DPS to defeat the Thundering Mephis. Use his Resonance Liberation skill whenever you immobilize the boss to deal massive damage. ▶︎How to Beat Thundering Mephis

Follow the yellow marker to head to the military base. There are three dialogue options in the cutscene but these do not change the outcome of the main quest.

Follow the yellow marker leading to the soldier near a Resonance Beacon. Approach the soldier for a cutscene to play. Head to the elevator and interact with it to head down the lower ground.
Once the elevator goes down, defeat the enemies in the next area. After clearing all the enemies, find and talk to the survivng soldier near the railings.

Follow the yellow marker and defeat the groups of enemies. Slide down the steep slope and use the Grapple to launch yourself to the next area. Defeat another set of enemies.

Use the Grapple to pull the blocked wall revealing the entrance of the Hovering Ruins. Follow the yellow marker until you reach an open area where enemies will spawn. Defeat them to proceed with the next objective. ▶︎How to Use the Grappling Hook

After defeating the enemies head up to the upper level. Use the Grapple to grab the floating rock towards your direction to use it as a platform to reach the other hovering building.
Once you reach the floating building, defeat the enemies inside and use the Grapple to pull the floating platform to move to the next hovering building. Do this for the next floating platform to reach another hovering building.

Once you reach the upper level of the floating building, an Impermanence Heron: Death Incarnate will appear. Defeat it to reach the last hovering building. ▶︎How to Beat Impermanence Heron

The last hovering building requires you to use the Grapple to remove the debris to uncover the wind field.
After removing all the debris, ride the wind field to reach the highest point of the Hovering Ruins.

After the cutscene interact with the purple portal in front of you to activate a cutscene leading to a boss fight that has three phases

The first phase of the boss is a boss fight with the Crownless: Plenilune Sacrifice. This is the same boss you fought at very first main quest, Utterance of Marvels: I and has the same attack patterns.

Once the Crownless' health reaches zero, it will enter its second phase. When you cut down its health to half, a cutscene will play showing it about to launch an attack.

The last boss phase has you battle against it with just Rover on the team. Eventually, Jiyan will rejoin the party to help out once you deal enough damage to the boss.

After defeating the boss, interact with the blue portal to exit the arena and complete the main quest.

Story Length: How Long is the Story?
Around 4-5 Hours
The prologue and first chapter of Wuthering Waves takes around 4-5 hours to complete. This includes playing through each main quest and not skipping through the cutscenes.
Note that this does not include the hours spent raising the Union Level to unlock some of the main quests.
Chapter 1 Act 6 is the Last Main Quest
As of Version 1.0, Chapter 1 Act 6: Grand Warstorm is the last main quest for the story. It is likely that new main quests will be added whenever a new version of the game is released.

How to Progress through the Story and Early Game
Complete Main Quests
If you are just starting out in Wuthering Waves, it is recommended to play through the main quests first as it gives you the most number of Union EXP.
Once you reach a point where you need to raise your Union Level to unlock the next main quest, you can complete the other quest types in the Quest Log. Make sure to check the Quest Rewards to see which quests reward you with Union EXP.

Most of the objectives in the main quest consist of following the yellow marker until you reach the destination.
If Quest Marker Does Not Show Up, Select Track on the Quest Log
If the yellow quest marker does not appear, check your Quest Log and press the Track button to start tracking the quest.
Raise Union Level to Progress through the Story
As you progress through the main story, you wil encounter main quests that require you to raise your Union Level. You can complete certain side quests, clear World Bosses, and complete Simulation Training.
