Fix 1:Install the latest Fortnite patch
The developers of Fortnite release regular game patches to fix bugs.It’s possible that a recent patch has stopped you from logging into the game, and that a new patch is required to fix it.
If you runFortnitefromEpic Games Launcher, you can follow the instructions below to check for the latest Fortnite patch:
- Run Epic Games Launcher.
- On the left panel, click Library. On the right, clickthe gear buttonon the lower-right corner ofFortnite.
- Turn onthe toggle next toAuto update.
- Restart Epic Games Launcher.
- If a patch is available, it will be detected by the Epic Games Launcher and the latest Fortnite patch will be automatically downloaded and installed when you launch Fortnite.
RunFortnite again to check if you can log into the game or not. If it not, or there was no new game patch available, move on to Fix 2, below.
Fix 2:Reboot your network
By rebooting your network, your Internet connection speed may be back to normal. So maybe it will also resolve this issue. Here is how to do it:
- Unplugyour modem (and your wireless router, if it’s a separate device) from power for60 seconds.
- Plug inyour network devices again and wait until the indicator lights are back to its normal state.
- Try launching Fortnite again.
See if you can log in or not. if not, try the next fix, below.
Fix 3: Test your Internet connection speed
If you still suffer from this issue after you reboot your network, you need to test your Internet connection speed first. Here is how to do it:
- Click hereto access the official website of SPEEDTEST.
- Click GO to start testing your connection speed.
If the speed test result is much slower than usual, you should turn to your Internet service provider (ISP) for further supports. If the test result is normal, then try the next fix, below.
Fix 4: Reset Winsock data
Winsockis a programming interface and supporting program in Windows operating system that defines how Windows network software should access network services.Resetting Winsock datamay be helpful for dealing with some network connection issues. Here is how to do it:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows Logo Keyand then typecmdin the search box. When you seeCommand Promptin the list of results, right-click it and then selectRun as administrator. You will be prompted for permission. ClickYes to run Command Prompt.
- In Command Prompt, type netsh winsock resetand pressEnter.
- Restartyour PC to complete the reset.
Launch Fortnite after you restart your PC to see if you can log in or not. If you fail to log in, try the next fix, below.
Fix 5: Flush your DNS and Renew your IP
Fortnite login failed issue is also probably caused by the DNS and IP issues.Try flushing your DNS and renewing your IPand maybe this issue will be resolved. Here is how to do it:
To flush your DNS:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows Logo KeyandRat the same time to open the Run dialog. Typecmdand then pressCtrl,ShiftandEnteron your keyboardat the same time torun the Command Prompt as administrator. You will be prompted for permission. ClickYesto run theCommand Prompt.
- Type the command line ipconfig /flushdnsand pressEnteron your keyboard.
To renew your IP:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows Logo KeyandRat the same time to open the Run dialog. Typecmdand then pressCtrl,ShiftandEnteron your keyboardat the same time torun the Command Prompt as administrator. You will be prompted for permission. ClickYesto run theCommand Prompt.
- Type the command line ipconfig /releaseand pressEnteron your keyboard.
- Type the command line ipconfig /renewand pressEnteron your keyboard.
- Launch Fortnite.
See if you can log in or not. If this issue persists, try updating your network driver to the latest version.
Fix 6: Update your network driver
If the network driver on your PC is missing or outdated, it may cause Fortnite login failed issue.Try updating your network driverto see if this issue persists.
There are two ways to update your network driver: manuallyandautomatically.
Manually update your network driver–You can update your network driver manually by going to the manufacturer’s website, and searching for the latest driver for your network adapter.
Be sure to choose the driver that’s compatible with your exact network adapter model and your version of Windows.

Fix 7: Avoid wireless interference

- On your keyboard, pressthe Windows logo keyandRat the same time to open the Run dialog. Typeinetcpl.cpland pressEnter.
- Navigate to theConnectionstab. SelectNever dial a connectionif you see it (somewhere belowChoose Settings if you need…). Then click onLAN settings.
- Uncheckthe box next toUse a proxy server for your LAN. If it is already unchecked,checkthe box next toAutomatically detect settings. Then clickOK.
- If you’re using a VPN or a third-party proxy sever, disableit.
Launch Fortnite to see if you can log in or not. If not, try the next fix to change the DNS server.
Fix 9: Change the DNS server
Google Public DNSprovides you witha speed boostandan increased security.Try changing the DNS server in your PC tothe Google Public DNS addresses to see if this issue can be resolved. Here is how to do it:
- On your keyboard, press the Windows logo keyandRat the same time to open the Run dialog. Then typecontroland pressEnter to open the Control Panel.
- Viewthe Control Panelby Category. ClickView network status and tasks.
- In the pop-up window, click Change adapter settings.
- Right-clickyour current network and then selectProperties.
- Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4(TCP/IPv4)to view its properties.
- Select Obtain an IP address automaticallyandUse the following DNS server addresses. ForthePreferred DNS server, enter the Google Public DNS address:8.8.8.8;for the Alternative DNS server, enterthe Google Public DNS address:8.8.4.4. Then clickOKto save the changes.
- Restart your PC and launch Fortnite.
See if you can log in or not. If not, try the next fix.
Fix 10:Close bandwidth hogging applications
If you’re running other applications likeOneDrive,DropboxandiCloudthat require Internet connection to download and upload files, or if your family members are watching TV shows at the same time, you may fail to log into Fortnite.
To resolve this issue, you need to close those bandwidth hogging applications. Here is how to do it:
- On your keyboard, press Ctrl,ShiftandEscat the same time to open theTask Manager.
- Right-clickthebandwidth hogging applications and then selectEnd task.
Launch Fortnite to see if you can log in or not.
